I have been playing whole 5 years but cant manage to find a way to lvl up Faster for my mage. i dont have much to play only mage since i have other 3 character. he is now struck at lvl 47. quests are not giving that much XP. since higher difficulties cannot be played by players lvl lower than level 50, the group buff is waste. and my character is not good enough to go solo at normal pw. and i cannot get to groups since he doesn't in any guild or have good friends. and lor'tac is difficult than pw.. what can i do to make my mage to 50 rather than doing quests that doesn't give much EXP.??

This August will be 5 years of DSO running live.

Are your other characters level 50? If so how did you managed that?
One important rule - you don't play PW for XP ... for XP you must play the normal maps.
You may speed up the process of leveling by:
    - buy/activate free premium it gives more XP for quests too
    - buy Tome of Insight (you can buy a scroll of insight for 100% more XP ... but it lasts for 1 hour and it doesn't stack with the tome.)
    - use pets or gear that boost your XP
    - don't underestimate the group buff it will stack to all the previously mentioned ... but of course the best way is to play with players on your level.

When the content expansion came I bought 1 Tome of Insight and activated free premium ... and with those two I managed to get to level 50 before the tome expired. (playing the new maps of course)
Of course I had a endgame strong character.
Leveling a character requires planning ... you have to have a plan before you start it.

Thanks as always Traki, however I agree with SGK on the fact that it is very slow to level up at higher levels.
My main toon is a 41 level SW and I do peform quests as the fastest way of leveling up.
However there are some events that you just have to play, such as Winter Solstice or Defeat the Undefeatables, otherwise just playing the normal maps there are way too low chanches of getting decent items drop or Glyph of Power to improve your gear.

However most of your suggestions stands, so I'll try to stick with them and happy grinding to everyone :D

pet+amulet+buf100%+prem+esseces+andermantmap( for restart map) focus on normale mobs and miniboss) = 47-50 around 3 hours

Alonedz, I'm impressed by your ability, but if you are most F2P (like me) some of your assumption does not stand:
    1. Amulet. I think you mean Jewel of Insight? Or some other amulet?
    2. Pet is something between 7500 ander and 25000 ander and you should consider at least Dragonspawn Pet to see real improvements at high levels
    3. Scroll of Insight is quite cheap and it can be used for the correct amount of time, but you have to be a fast farmer in location +1/+2 levels and with my SW I'm simply too slow.

I think I just have to work harder.

Tome of insight (50% over couple days of play time) is a better buy than scroll insight (100% for one hour). When you're offline, the timer on the tome pauses.

Also, certain maps can be run in a circular manner - temple sector, stillwater bay, and cradle life come to mind. For those maps, you can just duck in and out of the entrance every time you loop around in order to reset the map.

There's this: Amulet of Insight and this: Amulet of Enlightenment (though you can't get the second one anymore - the chests it could drop from have been removed). Wiki quote about it: "Well, this was obtainable through Surprise Boxes, they were removed from game a few releases ago. The only way to attain Surprise Boxes is via the "invite other players" bonus. So, if you invite players, get the Surprise Boxes and are extremely lucky then yes, it is possible to get it." ;).

Thanks Morinphen. I saw the Amulets on the Wiki, but as you say the Amulet of Enlightenment cannot be obtained anymore (extremely lucky....I'm not one of them ;)) and I did not considered Amulet of Insight for at least two reasons. First it can be dropped only in low level areas, so I should go fighting there; second I will have to remove my level 40+ extraordinary Amulet.
It is really worth to have this on? I suppose that I should also invest a lot of Glyphs in it to raise the health points at least.

My DK used the level 10 amulet of insight with an xp gem during the level 45 to 50 leveling period. I went back to my usual amulent (seal of death) once i got to 50.

Yeah, unless you want all the bonuses you can get, that low-level unique amulet isn't practical. I mentioned that too just to clarify what that player meant by XP amulets.

I Also need to mention my STATS... I think i need to be stronger inorder to lvlup..i also see 2500 Materi FRAGMENT old q6 wand is pretty helpful for me.. only beacuse of moderate dmg with gemslots and most important att/speed... i tell others tips but when comes to myself i struggle really hard. when i came for sure about the bug in singu.. there is no chance of standing in lortac more than 5 sec..
here are stats after improving armor and hp as far as i can... i master all classes but i dont really like to grind for lvl up as iam a f2p.
here are screenshots of my inventory, stats, and knowledge everything... if u know better ideas let me know.. i stopped playing mage mostly beacuse of nerfing it completely for "F2P" if u have money, u can make it better than anyother both in PVE/PVE. Without Dragan set or any equivalent u can't stand againt Lor'Tac
Really hard to improve a F2p MAGE.

Here are my exact same stats getting to lvl 50... Using whatever set i could just use during that time..seeing your stats are so much better than mine I guess you have been pve-ing wrong?

Try to learn how to chain skills properly, mind control+singularity can give you unlimited guardian with taunt, destruction..imo these are essential...maybe get a 2hand weapon so you can kill faster... cheers

for faster exp. all i needed was a guild(full activity+3 day tome xp) to lvl from 46 to 50...just 2 days needed doing all quest, after all quest was done, leveling in cradle of death, grouping up mobs near the entrance-kill-then reset.

The pocket map helps alot with getting fast exp. I find clearing Cradle of Life to the top and then reload map more exp than respawns.

Other side note farming Heredur seemed like alot of exp also. 3 runs gave me 1/2 bar. So 60 runs a level. Just make sure all toons are your level.

From lvl 45-46, do all the quests and when you have done them all (if you can) farm m2 with lvl 45-46 46-47 do quests and then farm around twilight downs 47-48 Quests then farm again lol 48-49 quests then farm in nahuatlan 49-50 quests then farm m2 with xp scroll, :)

  15. Quest till level 48, and then just farm Nahuatlan. Most effective if with exp scroll and blues. Took me 1 hour to get 6 bars of exp, without exp buff or essences while doing a quest. That's how I knew it's the best place for exp ^^

OK, let's see what we have here...

First thing I noticed... perhaps too much armor, as compared to other stats. I doubt that Automated Belt is worth it... and I see you've upgraded it a bunch of levels. You can drop from the resistances too if need be. I see you've allotted 25/25 on speed... check the attack speed breakpoints thread to better manage your speed (consider a breakpoint drop if needed). 0/25 damage for a mage isn't exactly good; you could use some boost. And even though you have 8/25 in HP, you're still kinda low... 5k is considered the average lowest acceptable point... so you need to work on that too.

Your 1H Mystic Staff has nice enough enchants, but put some rubies in there! You're wasting the almost 100% IWD.

The 2H one is also decent, but keep an eye for better ones.

Now onto XP talents... the 5 point one on Magic Missile seems rather not worth it to me... since you have to finish mobs with it to gain the effect... which kinda limits freedom (and if you don't keep track, then 5 points for something you won't get most of the time is too much). With Singularity, no use having all 3 talents because you can't really make them all effective at the same time... if you use it offensively, then the 5 pointer is not really useful since you don't want to be close to or exactly where the mobs are most of the time, and if you use it to shorten cooldowns, no real use in making it deal damage, for the same reason as before. The fire Guardian talent is also less effective than it is costly, so I'd advise making it mana cost-free.

I would say, drop the 5 on the missile, the 5 on the Guardian, the 5 on the Singu & the 2 on Frost Wind. I'm not used to the 5 pointer on Mind Control... I use 2 + 3 on that one. Also, I'd use Lightning Strike instead of Ice Sphere until you can make the ice attack have all three talents - at that point, if this will become your main damaging skill, you can pretty much forget about speed, since the Ice Sphere is as fast regardless of your speed.

Now, I would use the points remaining from the above changes (17 unless you change Mind Control too) as follows: 2 + 5 on Destruction by all means, since it's your grand attack of choice - the half mana cost and 750% damage instead of 500% is a massive difference, then 2 on Guardian. That leaves you with 8 more. Now, choose if you're going to stay 3 + 5 on Mind Control or 2 + 3 and whether you keep Ice Sphere or Lightning Strike (for this one, I'd use 2 + 3 talents, 5 only if you have a lot of mana to cast several - which I see is not the case) and distribute the points left. I use one skill slot for potions in PvE, so it's weird to me to see 2 basic attacks (Magic Missile & Chain Lightning), but if you manage like that, maybe add some of the points left to Chain Lightning (I'd use 3 + 5).

Hope I helped and am not too hard to understand, haha. In any case, you still got leveling to do, so you can further polish at lv50 and start optimizing better then (because of lv50 drops). Good luck!

The fastest way to level up is to find the highest boss for your level and just work only on that boss. It gets really really boring after a while but it is effective. I'm sure there are many other ways, however this is the one that worked for me. Hope you find something that works well for you.

One thing that I noticed, since the poster above mentioned bosses, is that those Protectors give a lot of XP.

Always play normal maps ... always play solo and always solve the quests. The quests are designed to make you level up fast because you would probably level up faster than you would get the quest fragments.
