Frequent browser crashes after today's patch

I am experiencing frequent browser crashes when running the game after today's update.

 

Do you have more information?

• What you were doing?
• What browser you are using?
• When it happened?
• What the error was (most important)?
• Is it repeatable?
• Does it happen when using a different browser?
• [Edit] Or are you using the client rather than the browser version?

It is happening almost every 10-20 minutes of play.
There doesn't seem to be any relevance to what I was doing. Fighting with monsters or entering into dungeons seems to where it occurs most.

I have tried both Google Chrome and Firefox but I get the error in both of them.
Yes, it is repeatable. I get this error, every 10-20 minutes after today's update.
I am using a browser (not the client)

 

As a memory error, I would assume that DSO is sucking all of your memory resources. You could try freeing up some resources by closing other programs or changing some of your graphics/sound options in the game.

Alternately, you could try the Thin Client to see if that uses less memory.

The game shouldn't suck down 7GB of memory in 22 minutes. It should release memory once it isn't in use. But I'd guess it is trying to save the user from having to re-download the information when moving map to map.

 

I'm having a similar problem except with no error message. The game crashes every time I get into new territory on the map. I have tried multiple different browsers and the thin client won't even start up after logging in.

 

I only have 2GB of memory and it's more than enough!!!
The problem is the new sound format and bad programming skills!!!

If you go to "Crypt of Kings" the FX sounds is delayed and the more you advance the more it's delayed and overloads your memory and then the game crashes!!! But it isn't happening in every scenario, so my advice is stay away from the ones that have delayed FX sounds!!!

Pretty soon there will be a "Hotfix" to fix the "Hotfix"!!!

 

Ok people with frequent crashes please try this.

In windows open up the device manager and find you sound driver. TEMPORARILY disable it. This is vastly different from muting sounds. Now test the game and see if it stops crashing. If this solves your problem enable it again and search out a possible update to your sound driver.
If there is no change use msconfig or in 8.1 use taskmanager to disable all or most of your startup programs. Before you disabke any please write down all of them. Then disable them by unchecking it or an option to disable at statup. Test the game now then keep checking or enable an item and reboot till you find a program messing up the game.

Did the game run longer or shorter or the exact same amount of time. How many programs did you disable.

 

I am still having the issue. You were correct. It happens only if I went into certain dungeons. If I was in town, nothing bad happens
The time depends but it is mostly between 10-30 mins depending on how active I am. More active I am (more monsters I kill) it seems to happen faster.

I don't run any other programs other than the browser and the game and of course my beloved virus scanner

 

Try disabling for an hour. While disabled do not surf the net. Clear your browser cache also.

 

you shouldn't have these problems if the game was make tidy..
dev's are getting more lax as the game goes on... bugs bugs bugs they try to fix but can't, get a new team who can fix things

Yes i just recieved the same error for the 5 mins i went away from my computr, it causes the movements to go out of sync with the audio when you re-load, and no nothing to do with anything on my side obviously since i'm not the only one getting it. Were you in The Catacombs in Kings Hill? that's where it happened for me. It fixes it's self after a few mins though so nothing huge... it may still lag behind a little though... perhaps what's causing it is the Windrunner's Legacy bow? are you using that too?, i mean i only just got this bow today and it's the first time i've seen this error in the whole time i've played this game, perhaps the speed at which it fires over-loads the game a bit?.

 

No it's not your unique item, so don't melt it or sell it!!!
As far as i know, only Catacombs and Crypt of Kings have this "error" the delayed FX sounds = crash!!!
This new bug came with the last hotfix, perhaps it's to prevent low lvl's to farm Heredur's unique for GoP.

I have been in other dungeons.... and no problems there!!!
Gonna have to wait for R148 or other hotfix!!!

 

Yeh i think it's just those dungeons and don't worry i'm not letting go of this bow, love the speed good for farming. I think it's just a bug, i've farmed heredurs shield a couple times but i'm not super low lvl i'm 34, it dosn't even drop enough to be farmed anyway, it only drops for me if i've not been there in a while.

 

Just curious.... do you get the crash if you play with the sound off (in settings, not your speakers)?

 

Would you be so kind as to try disabling sound with the device manager. Just disable it temporarily and run the game. This should free up memory for sound processing.

 

Don't know, haven't tried that...but my problem is solved, with the R148 i have no more delayed FX sounds in Catacombs nor Crypt of Kings!!! Hope the same applies to all of you.

 

I am using a client and it will not even let me log on .

 

Thin Client Agathon server can't even open game anymore
Uninstalled the game and can not even re install it
