What are some strategies to get some resistant build up?
(This is for a PvP build)

For example, on my ranger this is what I have:

I have equipped most of my available slots with gems that I have (a couple of +19s, a couple of +9s, and many +6s)
I have been trying to find gear with more armor and hit points and now I have only one gear with a resist line.

My total resists is still quite low, but I am kind of reluctant to use a resist gear because the resist lines that are in gear seems quite low and losing about 50 armor to a 20 resist doesn't look like the smartest thing to do :p

I would like to hear from you experts what strategies do you guys use when building up a good resistance?

I use +60 gems at level 45. My suggestion is armor on gear, resist on gems.

Open up Map2 to improve your farming options, as gems and anders drop more frequently in map2 and the later parallel worlds. As you accumulate anders, you'll be able to spend them on gems.

I also like to plug in Resist from gems and Armor on Equip. The numbers you can get on equip have higher armor possibilities, but in gems Resists are higher possibilities. Don't worry, your armor gems are still valuable and will give you some flexibility when deciding on what gear to use for PVP.

Work hard to get the Dragan Cape from the event starting tomorrow. It gives some resist bonuses and a little foot speed. There is also other gear pieces/sets than can boost resist values by a percentage.

For a Ranger shoot for 1260 or so as a goal on resists, after that you will get more benefit from increasing HP. Not to say, you should exclude HP gems completely till then, but 1260 should be your goal.

I generally avoid armor gems all together because they have diminishing returns. On my armor, I use HP gems. The only time I use armor gems is on the Defender's Belt because it has a special enchantment line that gives every armor gem on the belt another 20% armor. I'm currently hoping to get a spare Keen's Belt. If i did, I could put my armor gems on one, and my resist gems on the other. Then I could switch in 1v1 based on who I'm fighting... DK, SM, or RA, I'd use the armor; SW, I'd use the resist.
