Ok, I know many people farm PvP while at low levels, I've only discovered that PvP ranks actually help when in PvE...My character is now at level 31, and is now a Recruit. Are there any tips apart from creating a new character (with mentor bonus)?

You will not get mentor bonus on a new character, at least not any noticeable bonus as it will stop working as soon at the new character hits Recruit, which will be in a few arena fights. The character with lower PvP rank will have mentor bonus. Try playing 3v3 matches and those with more players as 1v1s will probably be too difficult and having teammates in a fight will help you learn and progress faster.

I have some tips. Search the forums for similar threads. Personally, I've answered "help with PvP for spellweavers" question... hummm.. probably a dozen times or so (including the old forums). Strategy helps a lot. If you want to not die all of the time, have a good internet connection and a decent computer. Also, a mouse. That's about as much as I can help you with, since I don't know what archetype you play, what gear you're wearing/stats, or anything else, really.

recruit. Pvp lvl won't be useful until u reach fame lvl 40 (Akoto). That will take a long time if ur lvl31 toon is weak, half a year maybe.
A good lvl 31 toon will have around 400-600+base damage, 2.5-4k+ hp (depending of your class), 50%+ armor and block rate, 50%+ crit rate, 50%+ resist.

Make a new toon because at least for the wisdom bonus. I will say 1v1 is easier for weaker toons (~300honor per win) because most strong toons go 3v3(800+) or 5v5 (1.5k+) for more honor per win.

It's fame lvl 25 that it starts taking effect with PVE.

And my advice to you is spend money on anders and buy lots of reds. Seems to be what everyone else is doing

If you want to take the time I would suggest parking* your main and creating an alt. Focus this new toon on low level PvP only. Do not do PvE quests and perhaps find a guild that will help. Low level PvP guilds exist on my server so I would guess they are also on the others.

Since you have not spent much time in PvP already this is going to be a tough road in the beginning. But if done right you should be able to get your alt up to at least lvl 25 fame before too long. Plus you will get good experience for the skills and tactics needed for the arena along the way.

Then your alt becomes the PvP mentor and you can go back to your main and get up to lvl 25 fame fairly quick. Then your main should be at a good starting point to continue on in PvP

    * when I say, "park your main," I do not mean stop playing that toon. Rather, do not do anything that will gain more XP. It is possible to continue improving your build without gaining XP.

    Luck be with ye,
    Mikey,
    Tegan

p.s. Do not get discouraged about losing to the heavy cashers or players with many thousands of matches of PVP experience. This just goes with the teritory the way the system is set up here. Points are points. Eventually they add up.
