Why do you all still play?

So, I first tried this game out MONTHSSS ago and had severe issues with the lack of inventory space. Especially with the fact that quest items (oh boy the abundant quest items!) took up space. So I ended up quitting cause what's the point in playing a loot-based game where I can't pick up any loot after, say, 10min? Besides, I was already committed to another game so this was more of an on-the-side thing.

Now, MONTHSSS later, I have nothing else to play and decided to give this a second chance. Actually played for a good couple of hours, not picking up any whites, trashing greens, only keeping blues to melt/sell etc. I think it should be obvious at this point that I do not have premium membership so I was lacking CoT as much as I was lacking inventory space.

Anyway, still frustrated with the fact quest items take up inventory space, I thought I'd get on the forums and see if a suggestion has been made to have quest items occupy their own section of inventory. But instead, I was shocked to see... ALLLLLLL these threads about, simply put, how bad this game and its company is.

PvP imbalance, terrible drop rates in a loot-based game (I noticed this myself), ninja nerfs, selective bug fixes, etc etc. Just plain EDIT!

So my question is.... why do you all still play? Really, why? I understand that some have already invested money into this game but even then, do you still continue to pay? For those who have invested time, rather than money, then why not invest that time in something else?

Just as a side note... I'm completely aware that most, if not all, browser games have some sort of "VIP" system. So, I was reading up on the perks of DSO's premium membership and WOW.... My highest level character is a lv16 DK and even at such a low level, I can see how EDIT OP the premium membership is. Free teleports (movement speed is hella slow in this game), free identifications for green/blue/purples, more inventory, and other stuff I'm forgetting and don't care to check.

Seriously. I don't get it. Why do you all continue to play?

Well, first of all, I have a little question for you.. if you're THAT unsatisfied with the game, why did you even bother to write all of this? You should have just left.

With a lvl16 char, it's a bit different you know.. premium might seem like an OP thing, but in 45lvl it's not that much of a big deal; you can find here threads where premium people want other stuff because those ones are apparently not enough. Movement is not really slow when you have an epic mount, it's advantage only for lazy people; free ID.. in 45lvl you don't ID any of those items except for bigger price to sell, more inv is an awesome advantage, yes. The only thing I really like about premium (and envy those who have it about) is free reset of talents, but I believe there will be changes about that.
Anyways, since I'm really tired I don't feel like writing a huge post about how lovely this game (and especially people who play it) really is, I'll just let you know that we mostly use forum to complain. Also, there are always people who are not happy with anything they get, so they complain too. But, for some reason, they don't quit..

 

A valid question. I've been playing just over 90 days now and learned early on that being a premium player is the easiest for me. The monthly fee is irrelevant to me.

The ability to change the daily bonus is worth the price in my opinion.

The extra storage is nice, but once you level up a bit that set of premium space is useless and you'll need to open up more spots anyway.

Changing the talent tree isn't something I do all that often so I don't see that as an advantage.

The ability to move from map to map free is.

Now I have put in far more time than money, and to me this game is a fun break and that is what a game should be.

For less than 50 cents per day I get to run around killing monsters, chatting with people from around world, and most importantly have a few hours to get my brain off the pressures of work.

There are plenty of online games, facebook alone has thousands. If this isn't your game you shouldn't have a problem finding a new one.

By the way, I know a few free players who have worked this game for quite a while and have the best gear, the best talents and still enjoy the game despite what I believe are limitations.

 

I play the game as a nice way to relieve stress. As far as all the negative comments on the forums, complaining is just a way for us to tell the devs what we would like to see in the game. If you don't voice you opinions, you have to accept when things don't go your way.

Besides, go to most any forum and you will see many more complaints than complements because people (including myself) have more fun complaining about how lousy something is than saying... "yeah... it's good." LOL

That's my take on why the forums seem negative...and if the devs don't listen, I'm quitting the game. ((not really)) ;-)

this game is interesting when u knew what to farm . i mean smth like "if we need to farm gold, just pick up necklaces and rings .. . putting gems on white gear with 4 slots avoid "full inventory" ... saving anders only for buying gems/expanding inventory space...saving CoTs for high level ID'ing...blah blah blah"
anyway, i found some friendly friend ("lag" is not my friend but sometimes he always with me) in game that made me comfortable, fun to chat/group with.
game is for fun and i do.

I play because I don't pay a cent to this game and usually get on by this game by just doing a quick daily and then logging. I'm in for the quick play around my horrendously busy work schedule/busy family life. If I wanted a game that needed a bit more of my time and attention, I'd consider D3 or even Rappelz (ugh). I don't invest but was able to at least obtain quite a few good pets/mounts from the seasonal events during the various festive seasons of the year.

 

Cause we all love to be put to the test! ... Do you have what it takes? or Are you looking for a game that allows you to skate through with no grinding or challenges what so ever? ...................................................................................................................................................................

I work around not having this or that and so what if I have to spend all my Crystals of Truth identifing stuff , if I play for a little while longer I will find more ... I never have tons of gold but always seem to have what I need ... If it wasn't a good game ... none of us would be here ... pay or free to play ...

 

I play simply because of the great people I have met here. They are what , makes playing this game enjoying for me. Sure there are bugs, flaws with PvP. some lag issues, but I have NEVER played an online MMORPG that did not also have these problems. I love playing Drakensang and as long as it is here I will be too!

Still play because I have hope it will get BETTER.

Not that many games around that will accumulate loot but won't actually let you see what you got, or charge you untold amounts of real $$$ to identify items.

I DO understand that they must make money somewhere. That is why most F2P games limit inventory, and create articial barriers that require SOME real $ to overcome, but then, I already pay premium.

CoT should drop at a higher rate. So should Ander. The changes made to reduce these have not gone over well in the player community.

As a rule, when players tell the holding / developing company that somethign SHOULD be done, such as enabling the toons to make SOME progress beyond end game level, it should be taken very seriously. I seldom get to improve my tooon by any tiny bt (save perhaps for gems), or the occasional item.

Also, sine the 1M Ander was commented elsewhere, as a rule (actually, by LAW in some jurisdictions), any lottery SHOULD (must) stipulate the odds. Since real $$$ may be involved in purchasing lockpicks or gem bags, probability of winning, and prizes should be public knowledge.

I have stopped playing, because since 2012 there hasn't been made any type of improvements to the F2P and very few towards the P2P, but a lot of improvements towards the P2W class.

Now, I only wait for events to play and on rare occasions i help-out my buddy's, but thats all.

I don't understand how the P2P class can keep on paying for game that doesn't improve...is it fun for you guys to play and farm the PW for 2 whole years and improve your toon by 5% or 10%???

Are you waiting for the new expansion/content that will come only in 2015??? my guess it will be released in 09/2015
So are you going to farm and wait other whole year???

And for what...the top players will reach lvl 50 in 2 weeks or in a month and then what...will you wait other 2 years for new lvl cap???

Only newcomers can keep this game alive...even this forum is dying(in my opinion) i see so few veteran members, even myself.

Well atleast the P2W class has a new reason/objective in their lives...new gem lvl's.
Paying 500€ for a "Royal" gem!!! impressive...now they only have to spend €5K in attack/defensive gems.
Hey whats other 10K € if you already spent over 100K, right!!!

Go and conquer the gem world, before they turn into coal!!!

ok EDIT complaining,,,does anyone ever just play the game and enjoy it..i do..all out ..social groups, fun maps...you tell me whats perfect on this planet, (to the thread obove this one), I agree you should just leave if you don't like it..complain to a bunch of dev team guys when all they do is try to fix what you are using..too bad its not all gold for ya hahahahaha ..then go try one of the other 999999 games online and allow appreciative gamers to play ...log on ..call their buds ...monster mash or Pvp if ya like ...ok,, well said fairyqueen..!

I would like to modify my original answer. It's because though I'm still cheap and don't put a cent to this game, I got reliable mates who stick up for me in events who actually don't mind utilizing their cash items on my pathetic in-game soul. This new addition of events is the main reason why I've been spending a little bit more time online in this game than the simple "get the daily login bonus/quest and log out within 15 minutes/day" routine.

 

Overall, the game is quite fun. Yes, it has those boring moments where we want to log off, some do, some just go do pvp. As for paying, I pay for prem and buy the occasional stack of ander. Now I don't blow it because I assume I can buy more, I spend it wisely. As for the creater of the thread, your level 16. "noob" -nuff said

 

why i play ... well it a game whit huge amount of nice pepps first of all ... its not bad game at all it have huge potential to became something really good .. yap it have still bug,lags,crashes but game is still officially in beta so its ok... u speak off bad drops yes its drops are one thing to discuss but u top lvl is 16 ... u still did not see bad drops and huge good drops ... lack of free space in inv... u dont have inv. u have 3 line for good sake that my lines for some storing pets and mounts only ... u did not get the rush of adrenalin when u first time kill any strong boss or when u tank u first strong boss in game in u lvl. u see only Heredur which good players kill whit one or too hits for good sake ... and about premium well its ok how it is now ,there is always who want more and i think is super balanced u get more inv.,u get free opening items(green,blue,pink) free revive on some maps, free teleport and it good to making gold now when gold are finally in some use for 45lvl end gamers and u suport game to grow up and become more good .... so when u find a good pepps and or good gild this game is really nice to play after all its a f2p whit huge potential .....
