Desert of Ess "Feedback"

I killed the **** purple boss 7 times - and got SIX boots ! Come on, what is that all about ? Should be a 25% chance..... Ran out of essence, health potions and fragments, so couldn't get the set. 8o(

 

It's about your bad luck. I killed the red boss 5 times and got a whole set (2 boots, 1 of everything else).

"Should be a 25% chance..." - Sorry, but I don't think you understand what "chance" means. If I have four different cards and shuffle them six times, you can still pick the deuce six times in a row.

The chance of picking each card is the same each time, therefore getting the same card six times is not impossible. Improbable? Yes. Impossible? No. Now, if you meant that the chances should alter as you find each piece, that's a different story. But that's not what you implied by what you wrote.

 

But, I disagree with the assumption of "25% chance", its more like this....

Boots - probability 50%
Gloves - probability 35%
Pauldrons - probability 10%
Armor - probability 5%

I have several toons and the armor piece was always the last item to drop....I have killed the "red boss" in total around 175 times.

And Multi-Sev, you're one lucky #$%&.
As for your example, it's possible to get 6 times the same card, but the probability of that is perhaps 1% or less.

Yeah, Multi-Sev, you're right; but it's still a one-in-four chance to pick up any piece on each try. (At least it was when I studied probability theory for statistics...)

Then again, as Bearer-of-Death suggests, there is no such thing in computing as true randomness. It has tro be programmed in. ( Got to pity the suckers who gamble on-line and think it's random....)

 

I don't think its a straight 1 in 4 chance for each piece, I think its more chances the boot drops and less chances the chest drops.

I think my DK, who now has the full set, has killed the red boss about 12 times. I know I've gotten the boots at least 4 times and I've gotten multiple pauldrons and gloves. I've only gotten the chest once.

My steam mechanicus has gotten 4 red boss kills, and has gotten 3 boots and 1 glove.

 

the desert ess event is awesome guys thx for it ... and i just want to give a small feedback... the gears from the event is all nice with good stats but i just wish you guys would make it so that we could dye them more...
wen i tried to dye them the color wont change much its just like the dragan cloak... i just wish we could paint them fully like we used to with witch chaser gears... its just my opinon...

It's true that you can't have a "random" computer program. It's psuedo-random, mimicking true randomness. (If true randomness actually exists in the universe at all, but that is another question altogether.) I get that.

But I'm not generally into believing in conspiracies that don't have a clear-cut goal, profit or what-have-you at the end. I'm not really sure what would be gained by BP to have some people roll the same number on the dice 6 out of 7 times. I think that is just "luck", really: the opposite side of the "luck coin" that had me rolling 4 different numbers in 5 tries on the red boss.

The fact that I had planned to melt any pieces I got from this event could not have been known by BP unless they have a true "psychic" on the payroll. (I kind of doubt this since they can't afford good programmers ) I kept the set until about 6 days into the event, and melted the pieces all at once, so the fact that I was going to melt them all was not known.

Honestly, I don't believe they program in "special" cases to alter the statistics for different players on drops and such. That would be an immense amount of work, and what purpose would it serve?

 

Are you sure it is a Red item or just a Legendary Item? If the item has a ? on it, then it is just a regular Legendary Item.

I have not heard of any color boss dropping anything but its color, but it can drop green, blue, pink, etc.

I feel game lagged when my DK opens inventory. Highlighted quest is changed after entering event map. I guess these two glitches came after the latest hot fix.

 

Ok, so after collecting enough boots to open a cobblers shop, I just killed the blue boss for the umpteenth time and he dropped nothing at all ! It just gets worse...... 8o(

 

No, I'm not wrong...I have played this game long enough to know what is what!!!
And just in case of any doubts...here is a pic.

Like i said my DK is too weak to defeat the "Red Boss".
(I should have sent a ticket, but then again they probably wouldn't believe me anyway and would never give me the purple armor piece, which i really wanted.)
